Privacy Policy

General

CIPPIC collects, retains, uses, and discloses personal information (e.g., name and email addresses) only as necessary to provide the services specified below. We do not use this information for any other purpose and do not share it with anyone else.

Google Analytics

CIPPIC uses a tool called Google Analytics to perform internal statistical analysis of the traffic only on the Ideas page of DigitalAgenda.ca to help us understand:

  • the degree to which users of our services originate in Canada,
  • and how people use our website.

Google Analytics uses "cookies" – small text files placed on your computer – to help Google provide this information. The cookie generates information about your use of the website, including the URL, your IP address, geographical location, browser type and language, the date and time of your visit to the website, and, if you linked to our site from another website, the URL of that website. Google Analytics transmits that information to Google. Google stores this information on servers in the United States and such information is therefore subject to U.S. privacy laws. Google uses this information for the purpose of analyzing your use of the DigitalAgneda.ca website. Google provides that information to CIPPIC so that we can prepare and review reports on activity on the DigitalAgenda.ca website.

Google Analytics does not collect personal information such as your name, address, telephone number, or other such personal information. You may refuse to allow cookies on your computer by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser.

In return for letting us use Google Analytics, Google also uses the information Google Analytics collects. Google’s own use of this information is subject to its own Privacy Policy: http://www.google.com/intl/en/privacy.html. Google states that it may combine information collected from you with information from other Google services or third parties to improve its services, including customizing content (including advertisements on Google sites) for you.

CIPPIC does not attempt to track or record any information connecting you personally with your IP address or other online identification.

Password Management

CIPPIC collects your email address when you register for the Idea Torrent so that you are able to reset the password should you later so choose.

Third Party Credential Services

CIPPIC uses RPX technology to allow credentials given to third party services, such as OpenID, to authenticate the user and permit access to DigitalAgenda.ca. CIPPIC only uses the information you provide us to access this service and the information the third party service provides us to authenticate your identity, and makes no other use of this information.

Idea Torrent

CIPPIC seeks no personal information and associates no personal information with submissions to DigitalAgenda.ca’s Idea Torrent. The final work product submitted to policy makers will contain no personal information.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

If we change this Privacy Policy, we will post a notice about such changes on this page and on the DigitalAgenda.ca homepage, explaining the change and its implications for you. If we want to use your personal information for a purpose beyond those described above, we will contact you in order to obtain your prior consent.
